Guardian

Guardian

On October 14th I had the great pleasure to install my sculpture “Guardian” at the Hanifen Center in Colorado Springs. It is located in the foyer of the Life Support Center at 14 West Bijou Street. Bishop Michael Sheridan, with Monsignor Bob Jaeger, unveiled and dedicated the sculpture. The wonderful group at Colorado Springs Catholic Charities arranged a reception for the unveiling of this sculpture and the introduction of several other artworks housed in the building.

The bronze sculpture is 26 inches tall and sits on a beautifully constructed brick pedestal, built and donated by the mason Bob Riendeau. It speaks of the relationship between a mother and her child, of her love and dedication to the protection and welfare of her child. In the broader sense, it spleaks of the obligation we all have to care for and nurture our families, our communities, and our world.

I hope you can stop by the center, anytime, and see my sculpture, and that it speaks to you, too.

Ruth

Hello. My name is Ruth Burink. I am stone and bronze sculptor, living in Monument, CO.

I have recently launched my new website and blog, and I am excited to start sharing information about not only my work, but about the sculpting process, where to find the best stone, how to set up a sculpture studio, sculpture training, where I find my inspiration, as well as recommendations on how to care for your sculpture, general thoughts on the art world and much more.

I have been a sculptor for many years now, focusing on contemporary, nature-centered and figurative sculpture tending toward the abstract, and often spiritual in concept. I have had the pleasure of working with talented architects, interior designers and liturgical consultants, creating pieces for residential, commercial and public spaces, including hospitals and churches throughout the United States.

I hope to be a resource for sculptors and collectors alike. Although I spend most of my time in the studio, I hope to blog once a week.

If you have any questions about my work, the sculpting process, or questions on how to care for your stone or bronze sculpture, the best way to contact me is through my Contact page on my website.

For those of you unfamiliar with my work, I invite you to visit my gallery. I also have pictures from an installation on my Facebook page, as well as a list of upcoming events in the Colorado area.

If you like my work, please share my site with your friends.

Thanks for visiting!

Ruth
