On October 14th I had the great pleasure to install my sculpture “Guardian” at the Hanifen Center in Colorado Springs. It is located in the foyer of the Life Support Center at 14 West Bijou Street. Bishop Michael Sheridan, with Monsignor Bob Jaeger, unveiled and dedicated the sculpture. The wonderful group at Colorado Springs Catholic Charities arranged a reception for the unveiling of this sculpture and the introduction of several other artworks housed in the building.
The bronze sculpture is 26 inches tall and sits on a beautifully constructed brick pedestal, built and donated by the mason Bob Riendeau. It speaks of the relationship between a mother and her child, of her love and dedication to the protection and welfare of her child. In the broader sense, it spleaks of the obligation we all have to care for and nurture our families, our communities, and our world.
I hope you can stop by the center, anytime, and see my sculpture, and that it speaks to you, too.
Ruth
